IP SLA Monitoring

Cisco's IP SLA technology provides an amazing opportunity for companies using Cisco IOS based equipment to proactively monitor the availability and performance of their Cisco based networks. Organizations typically utilize relatively basic network monitoring software to track and trend the performance of their networks. This is traditionally done with ICMP based availability software.

The challenge with this approach is all of the metrics collected are from the perspective of the ICMP server itself. The problem with this approach is that it does not provide true link state statistics. For VoIP monitoring it is critical to understand the performance of key links within your VoIP infrastructure. To monitor the performance of your WAN service provider it is key that the metrics that you are utilizing to assess your provider's performance are accurate.

Metric Manager tracks and presents this information via dynamic graphs in hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly time increments.
