Auto Discovery and Configuration
Managing an enterprise means collecting a lot of performance metrics. Setting up monitoring solutions to correctly collect all of this data usually requires a painstaking implementation process and an even more rigorous maintenance processes. The challenge with keeping these systems up to date is that every time a device gets added, removed or modified the monitoring system typically needs to be updated as well.
As with any process, if it requires manual intervention, then it will probably fail and become inaccurate over time. This results in an inaccurate monitoring system, incorrect alerting and a loss of confidence in the monitoring system all together. Murphy's Law will ultimately kick in – he devices that are missed are usually the device that will have an issue or an outage. Monolith's Metric Manager addresses this challenge by providing robust automatic discovery and automatic configuration.
Metric Manager utilizes ITM Core's Device Catalog to get the most up to date connection and device information. Metric Manager leverages this data to provide automations allowing for easy configuration and automated polling policies to automatically create a baseline of performance and availability of the devices within your enterprise.

Monolith makes configuration a snap with the use of Device Catalog and Device Discovery. All of the required device polling information is readily available for use. An administrator simply has to select the device and instance (interface, partition, etc) using the AJAX-based search capability and then apply which groups of metrics and thresholds needs to be deployed. The Pollers/Collectors do the rest, no matter where the devices are being monitored.
Monolith is aware of where the devices are by "Device Zone" and the pollers/collectors are aware of which zone to poll. Another key feature of the Monolith solution is our ability to work well traversing through DMZs. This is accomplished due to our distributed poller capabilities. For entirely automated configurations Metric Manager can leverage pre-configured policies. When a new device or instance (interface, partition, etc) is found Metric Manager will be automatically configured to poll/collect statistics from the device. This reduces the maintenance and administration costs, while ensuring a high-level of monitoring accuracy and consistency through-out your enterprise.
